We've had to cancel the last 2 Christmas dances, but we're going for it this time! Will we even remember what eggnog tastes like and what we all look like dancing in our best christmas jumpers? Let's find out! Traditionally this has been a fantastic and joyous dance, so please do come and raise the roof with us, hoedown like there's no tomorrow, and let rip on the dance floor.. we can't wait to be back after all these years!
There will be a bar serving lovely local ales, delicious real ciders, nice wines and spirits + hot and spicey cider.

20:00 - 20:30: Cut A Shine Music Set
20:30 - 21:00: Learn the Basics Workshop
21:00 - 22:45: Cut A Shine Barn Dance
22:45 - 23:30: Electro-Hoedown Session!
About The Dancing
Altough called many things; Ceilidh, Country Dance, Barn Dance, Ceili Dance, Square Dance, Set Dancing - one thing is certain, it's all traditional and how people would entertain themselves before TV and raves! We have a live band on stage to provide the music, and a "Dance Caller", who is expert at teaching you all the simple and fun moves. First we learn the dance by walking through it with the caller, then the band strike up, and we dance to the music! Simple, good, old fashioned fun, although tweaked and modified by ourselves - 21st Century Barn Dance! You really don't need any experience, just willingness to have a go.

Our ticket pricing might seem complicated, but we want everyone to have access to the arts regardless of your financial situation. Cut A Shine is a not-for-profit dance company, and we want to engage our local community to get involved. If the cost of living crisis is affecting you, choose the cheaper ticket, then, depending on your income levels, pay what you can afford - all the way up to super awesome supporters of the arts with £20! We hope this system will work!
Our dances are All Inclusive, regardless of age, gender, ability, ethnicity or sexual orientation. Although based largely on traditional European and American dance forms, we have tailored our dances to be non-heteronormative and involve everyone. We welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community.
