Hire Information for the Round Chapel Auditorium
Hackney Historic Buildings Trust owns and operates the fabulous Grade II* listed Round Chapel, as well as the Grade I listed St Augustine’s Tower, which is also in Hackney. The buildings are available for hire for a wide variety of events.
Every function is different, so viewing the venue and meeting with staff is essential to discuss your requirements and agree a hire fee. As a guide, we have listed some typical hire charges for the Round Chapel Auditorium below:
Private Functions & Public Events – Monday to Thursday from £275/h, minimum 4 hour hire
Weddings, Private Functions and Public Events – Friday, Saturday & Sunday from £300/h, minimum 8 hour hire.
Depending on availability, we hire our spaces to charitable institutions and community projects at discounted rates. Contact the office for further details.
Weddings – The Round Chapel is licensed for civil wedding ceremonies and is a very popular venue for all kinds of celebrations.
Television, Film and Photography – The buildings in our trust are in great demand for film and still photography projects. We can accommodate sizeable cast and crew and the car park is also big enough for facilities and catering.
From lectures and debates, to parties, film screenings and food festivals, our venue is the perfect location for your event.
We are a dry hire event space, which means that you rent the space and organise what you need in it. We have 30 round tables, which comfortably seat 8 persons; 20 trestle tables and 300 chairs. Everything else needed for the function needs to be hired by you, the client.

What are the opening hours?
The auditorium is available for hire seven days a week. Our bookings start at 8.00am and events must finish by 11pm (midnight on Saturdays). The office is generally open from Monday to Friday 10am-4pm, but please contact us before visiting.
What do I get when I hire the Round Chapel?
Your booking includes:
Exclusive use of the auditorium.
Access to the kitchen, dressing room and the toilets.
A member of staff on site, available to assist with venue-specific issues that arise.
Furniture set up according to your requirements.
Parking on site for four vehicles.
Are there any restrictions at the Round Chapel?
As it is Grade II* listed building, it’s not possible to attach anything to the fabric of the building. All decorations/props must be freestanding or attached with string/cable ties. Noise levels must also be kept to a reasonable level. Moreover, using confetti, glitter cannons, smoke machines and helium balloons is prohibited. The Round Chapel is a non-smoking venue.
Is there disabled access into the Auditorium?
Yes, the auditorium is fully accessible to wheelchair users via a ramp. There are also disabled toilet facilities available.
How many people can your spaces accommodate?
For theatre-style events using only chairs, we can accommodate up to 300 people. If standing-only, we can hold up to 500 people on the ground floor. For concerts and recitals, the balcony can be used to increase capacity up to 800, but this must be agreed in advance. For wedding receptions & cabaret-style events, the maximum capacity is 240 people.

Can I sell tickets and alcohol in the venue?
We do not have a designated box office or a bar. We do have a premises licence and for licensed events there are a number of important additional conditions and commitments which hirers must adhere to. These are available upon request.
Booking & Enquiries
The auditorium has a minimum 8 hour hire period on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Monday to Thursday are on an hour-by-hour basis subject to a four hour minimum hire.
